Because it is important for the people producing the coffee, the landscape the coffee is grown in, and the people drinking it. The simple story is that the chemicals are bad for people and the environment, and great coffee exists without them.

Red Room

Black cherry, northwest forests, licorice, & strawberry.

Laura

Notes of honey, malt, caramel and a grape-skin acidity with a hint of lemon rind.

Decaf Mexico

Graham cracker, cashew, hibiscus, with a hint of lemon and sunrise. 

Washed & sun-dried. Bright green apples, sweet notes of molasses, caramel, and a subtle grape-skin zest. 

Guatemala

Full body, low acidity. Maple sugar sweetness, molasses, and apricot.

Mexico 

Chenalhó, Pantelhó, Oxchuc, Cancuc, Tenejapa. 

Founded in 1983 this organic cooperative with roughly 1000 members belongs to the indigenous Tsotsil and Tzeltal. The cooperative is named after the area meaning "place of the birds" in the native Tsotsil language.

The word “ethos” is defined as “a manifestation of beliefs and aspirations” - and Ethos Roasters is a company that embodies our most noble aspirations to make a difference in the world through coffee.

We begin by sourcing the most socially-impactful, highest-quality coffee beans we can, roasting them with scientific care (in state-of-the-art 15-kilo and 10-kilo drum roasters, by PhD and MD holders), and packaging and shipping them as soon as they are roasted. We only roast on order (no coffee inventory ever!) so we can always ship your coffee just hours after roasting. 

Yet, our definition of coffee "greatness" goes well beyond high quality and unparalleled freshness - it prioritizes the impact behind each bean. In fact, our passion for coffee is only surpassed by our desire to make a difference in the lives of small coffee farmers (over wealthy large farmers or Estates which tend to dominate Specialty coffee). Our biggest success story is a small farmer Co-Op in Poaquil, Guatemala, which was able to buy their own coffee processing equipment in 2019 and continues to grow with us!
