The Sul de Minas (or "south of Minas") region is in the southern part of the state of Minas Gerais, just across the border from the neighboring state of Sao Paulo.  It is a high elevation area, known for unique varietals and for the the production of exceptional single origin coffees.

Jose Augusto Peixoto, represents the 3rd generation of the Peixoto family producing exception coffee on his family farm.

The Peixoto Family has been growing high quality Arabica coffee on our farm in Minas Gerais, Brazil since 1894.  Five generations later, we put down roots in Arizona as Peixoto Coffee, where we import, roast, and serve our family coffee along side other exceptional coffees from around the world.

The word “ethos” is defined as “a manifestation of beliefs and aspirations” - and Ethos Roasters is a company that embodies our most noble aspirations to make a difference in the world through coffee.

We begin by sourcing the most socially-impactful, highest-quality coffee beans we can, roasting them with scientific care (in state-of-the-art 15-kilo and 10-kilo drum roasters, by PhD and MD holders), and packaging and shipping them as soon as they are roasted. We only roast on order (no coffee inventory ever!) so we can always ship your coffee just hours after roasting. 

Yet, our definition of coffee "greatness" goes well beyond high quality and unparalleled freshness - it prioritizes the impact behind each bean. In fact, our passion for coffee is only surpassed by our desire to make a difference in the lives of small coffee farmers (over wealthy large farmers or Estates which tend to dominate Specialty coffee). Our biggest success story is a small farmer Co-Op in Poaquil, Guatemala, which was able to buy their own coffee processing equipment in 2019 and continues to grow with us!
