Legender is grown in the micro-regions of Machado, Poco Fundo, and Campestre, located in Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Most coffee regions in Brazil are well known for large coffee plantations in big farms. Legender goes in the opposite direction, consisting of small farms called Sitios. All lots are purchased directly from growers committed to quality and willing to provide detailed information about their Sitios, harvesting methods, drying techniques, and other relevant information about their coffee.

This is exactly what you want from a Guat. Look for mild citrus and berry flavors, followed by a sweet, sugary finish.

GUATEMALA IXLAMA

This coffee comes to us from the Huehuetenango region in Guatemala, which produces some of our all-time favorite coffees. We love them for their clean, subtle citrus flavors and brown sugar sweetness. Ixlama is grown by small producers in the Highlands of San Pedro Necta and La Libertad. It’s a shade-grown coffee harvested and brought to the mill before being sundried and placed on “guardiolas” or coffee driers. It’s then separated by color using a fancy computer and then separated by size mechanically. The result is a clean, bright cup that’s super drinkable.

Originally CCCDP was 25 small producers and has grown to 500 in total. They are certified as organic and Fairtrade. First, the ripe cherries are harvested, washed, and any floating cherries are separated. Next, they are de-pulped and fermented in tanks. Next, the beans ferment for 30 hours and are triple washed to ensure no mucilage in the coffee—lastly, the coffee drys on African beds inside trays for 25 days.

We begin by sourcing the most socially-impactful, highest-quality coffee beans we can, roasting them with scientific care (in state-of-the-art 15-kilo and 10-kilo drum roasters, by PhD and MD holders), and packaging and shipping them as soon as they are roasted. We only roast on order (no coffee inventory ever!) so we can always ship your coffee just hours after roasting. 

Yet, our definition of coffee "greatness" goes well beyond high quality and unparalleled freshness - it prioritizes the impact behind each bean. In fact, our passion for coffee is only surpassed by our desire to make a difference in the lives of small coffee farmers (over wealthy large farmers or Estates which tend to dominate Specialty coffee). Our biggest success story is a small farmer Co-Op in Poaquil, Guatemala, which was able to buy their own coffee processing equipment in 2019 and continues to grow with us!
